Barclays PLC
_ Barclays PLC is a British multinational universal bank, headquarter in London, England. The bank was founded by two Quakers called John Freame and Thomas Gould, who established themselves as goldsmith bankers in Lombard Street in the City of London in 1960. ( PLC stand for public limited company ). Their business flourished, helped in no small part by its Quaker connections, and they were actively involved in Quaker dominated companies like London Lead Company. Today Barclays is in one of the big four bank in the UK. Barclays operates as five divisions: the UK Consumer Bank, UK Corporate Bank, Private Bank and Wealth Management (PBWM), Investment Bank, and the US Consumer Bank. Barclays has approximately 100,000 employees and operates in over 50 countries ( across Europe, Asia, Africa the Middle East, and the Americas; with 48 million customers, with more than 20 million in the UK.
